The past decade has seen rapid transformation within the convenience sector, with change driven by products and services, customers, and technology. Major shifts have included a convergence with different sectors (i.e., supermarket, QSR), an increased focus on 'on-the-go' food and foodservice, as well as the introduction of more "balanced product offers" to meet consumer demands for quality, fresh, and healthy options. Through a series of interviews with convenience sector leaders across the globe, the Australasian Association of Convenience Stores (AACS) set out to understand the next decade in the convenience sector. This research maps the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead for the sector, and helps operators traverse change in a rapidly evolving retail sector. In this session, Associate Professor Sean Sands will present the key highlights from the recent Convenience 2030 research report.
